What Is Eczema?
Nearly 10% of the population suffer from eczema, which is an inflammation of the skin caused by the immune system.
Eczema falls under the umbrella “atopic” which is one of several conditions that include diseases like asthma and hay fever. The most common form of eczema, atopic dermatitis (AD), can be passed down in families.
It typically develops in children in the early years with symptoms sometimes improving with age. Mild cases of eczema can appear as dry flaky skin. In some severe cases the skin can become exceedingly itchy and even lead to bleeding.
In most cases eczema is most noticeable on the hands, elbows and backs of the knees. Extreme eczema can affect the entire body.
The itching that eczema causes can range from being mildly irritating to severe. Wearing certain types of clothing materials becomes impossible.

Can CBD oil treat eczema?
CBD oil is made from cannabidiol, which is a chemical compound found in the cannabis plant. It is non-psychoactive and is a natural plant product with a myriad of beneficial properties.
CBD is highly permeable and can enter the skin easily where it accumulates in the sebaceous gland. Cannabidiol (CBD) is a potent anti-inflammatory. Many people are turning to CBD as a natural remedy for their condition.
CBD has an ability to reduce colonisation of staphylococcus bacteria which can cause infections on the skin.
How does CBD oil work?
Several decades ago, scientists discovered the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS). They learnt that the ECS is responsible for maintaining the homeostasis (balance) of a various processes within the body, from regulating blood pressure to your strengthening the immune system.
CBD applied topically to the affected areas suffering from AD are absorbed by the receptors in the skin. CBD interacts with your body’s natural CB2 receptors.
The body as CB2 receptors throughout the body. They are prevalent in the immune system with high levels in white blood cells, thymus gland, spleen, and the tonsils.
CB2 receptors are deeply connected to achieving a balance in the body’s natural healing mechanisms by regulating the immune system. These mechanisms are very complex and are still being understood fully.
A 2019 study found that CBD-infused ointment “significantly improved the skin parameters” of the test subjects. Additionally, there were little to none allergic reactions caused by the application of CBD oil to patients suffering from eczema.
